The program of training in management and cultural policies of the UNESCO Chair is the result of a great experience in the training of culture professionals in our country and of the collaborations with different organizations and international universities.
The origins of this activity date back to the early eighties, in a reality of democratic recuperation, where the cultural sector assumed a very important function in the recuperation of public space and the development of social cohesion and consensus.
We start our action in the training of cultural managers through practice in local administration and the development of new territorial cultural policies, with a large group of people from the local institutions in Barcelona and Girona, volunteering to offer training of a professional character, with the objective of incorporating it within the academic environment without losing the ties with the practice of cultural intervention.
The UNESCO Chair in Cultural Policies and Cooperation of the University of Girona organizes training programs with the objective of training and bringing professionals and agents of culture in the local and international environment up to date.
The formats of training are adapted to the objectives of each program according to their target groups and contents.
To implement this methodology, we rely on a balanced team of teachers from the professional practice, research and academic life.
