On 1-3 June 2016, the UNESCO Chair in Cultural Policies and Cooperation at the University of Girona and the Theatre Institute in Barcelona will host a three-day meeting, entitled Arts Education in Europe and Worldwide: the implementation of the Seoul Agenda.
The meeting will bring together members of the European Network of Observatories (ENO) in the Field of Arts and Cultural Education linked to UNESCO and the International Network for Research in Arts Education (INRAE). The aim is to raise awareness of and develop the work of the ENO and INRAE networks in the field of monitoring of arts educational systems, database development and knowledge management and sharing with view of supporting the development of national arts educational system in line with the international policies and guidelines for education, culture and sustainable development developed and promoted by UNESCO.
In the framework of the conference, an open meeting aimed at policy makers, managers and experts in the field of culture, arts and education in Catalonia, will be organized on 1 June from 15:30 to 18:45 at the Theatre Institute in Barcelona. At the meeting, representatives from institutions working in the field of arts and cultural education in South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, Canada, Colombia, Kenya and Spain will share their experiences and present their views on the prospects and challenges to arts and cultural education in Europe and worldwide.
On 2 and 3 June ENO and INRAE representatives will continue their work in closed working group meetings that will take place at the Science and Technology Park of the University of Girona.
Space for training, reflection and exchange on the relationship between education and culture. It offers an educational program that combines theoretical knowledge and practical and creative approaches to real and professional experiences that work across this binomial.

Applications of the project are already available – Learning from practical experiences. Culture and development – for the management of actions within the cultural scope for development.
These applications are designed to be used in the formulation, management and evaluation of this type of actions and they have been elaborated with the experience gained from the projects of The MDG-F Culture and Development Thematic Window.
The event aims to facilitate the advance in understanding and clarifying the content of cultural rights as an integral part of human rights. In this regard, various experts will try to bring the public to the field of cultural rights when it comes to vulnerable groups.
Gemma Carbó, Director of the UNESCO Chair in Cultural Policies and Cooperation of the University of Girona, will participate in the event with the paper Youth.
Entrance to the seminar is free and registration is required.
The next September 9 will take place in Donostia an informative and mediation session about Kooperarock. The director of the Chair, Gemma Carbó, will take part in the session.
Kooperarock consists of two complementary and independent projects. The first aims to promote the development and transmission cooperative knowledge in the area of social economy and the second aims to develop cooperative processes of artistic nature in education.
The informative session will be developed by Teatro Paraíso in the KunArte , Artistic Innovation Center for Early Childhood, from 10am.
On 24 May, the Fundación Catalunya Cultura will hold the conference Collaboration between culture and companies: a space to conquer, with the aim of promoting a space for dialogue between the cultural sector and the business sector to find shared goals and cooperation opportunities between them.
The Foundation points out the need to identify the value that culture can bring to the company in social, educational and territorial cohesion issues. The Foundations defends, therefore, that sponsorship should gain prominence as a bet of commitment of the company to society and culture.
The director of the Chair, Gemma Carbó, will take part of the event in the round table The social and educational commitment of culture, in which will also participate Sònia Gainza (head of Auditorio Apropa and director of "Apropa Cultura" program), Eva Blanco (Director of Communication and Public Relations of the International Centre of HP Barcelona) and Elisa Durán (assistant general manager of the Banking Foundation "la Caixa").
The conference will take place on Tuesday, May 24, from 9.00 am to 13.30 pm at the Auditorium La Pedrera.
On 21 , 22 and 23 March were held in Gandia the conference Children and young people as spectators and citizens, in order to propose a reflection on the links between creation, cultural habits and childhood and youth.
Led by the Te- Veo Association the conference addressed two fundamental lines of work: the integration and the participation of young citizens in cultural and artistic life of the community and the public responsability in cultural literacy of this citizenship.
